Whole Life Worship - One Year On
Whole Life Worship was launched at LICC one year ago (28th March 2017). Since then we have been thrilled to see God do all kinds of things with the material. If you or your church has been impacted by the book, the Journey Pack, training days or other resources, we'd love you to add your stories to the comments section below.
Here are a few highlights for us:
Videos
London Institute for Contemporary Christianity produced five amazing animated videos on the themes of the Journey Pack. These are available to download for free from their website.
LICC also interviewed Stuart Townend and John Risbridger on the subject of Whole Life Worship - check out their responses.
Events
We have run Saturday training days on Whole Life Worship regionally in Luton, Bath, Harrogate, Balham and High Wycombe. We have also taken the material to Spring Harvest, Bible By The Beach, Bristol Baptist College, London School of Theology, Brussels and a number of other church contexts. We've received some really encouraging feedback, including:
- "The sessions run by Sam and Sara were relevant and provided practical solutions as well as underpinning it with the theology behind what they were offering. They were also sensitive to the fact that we are all coming from different churches with different expressions of worship."
- "My team and I found the conference to be very relevant to and useful for our setting. We have taken home lots of ideas and feel inspired to develop our worship-potential further."
- "Outstanding - well planned, well delivered, systematic and practical - I will be making changes to what we do straight away!"
Coming up we have the following Whole Life Worship training events:
- LICC in Central London 23rd June (open to the public).
- For the Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland in April.
- For Gloucester Diocese on 12th May.
- For the Chinese Church in London on 30th June.
- For the God For All ecumenical partnership in Cumbria, 15th September.
- In Cheltenham on 17th November (open to the public - book online here).
Book and Journey Pack
We have been really encouraged by the feedback from people reading the book, and making use of the Journey Pack materials for Sunday services. The congregation from one church responded:
- "I valued the chance to assess my worship and what that entails, in church and in my work/service of the Lord in the thing he asks me to do."
- "It's been a tremendous reminder and refocus on the importance of using every aspect of life to worship God. Also a huge challenge and reminder how much I need the Holy Spirit to help me to do that."
Reviews of the book have been very positive. One Amazon reviewer gave Whole Life Worship five stars and commented:
- "Yes, this is exactly where our focus need to be when we plan and lead worship. Lots of practical examples and ideas to illustrate and help bring ideas into practice."
