Praise the Lord! Active version of Ps 148
For this reading you will need to split the congregation into two groups, 'heavens' and 'earth'. Explain that the appropriate group need to copy what reader 2 does, not what reader 1 is saying. You can have a lot of fun with this, whilst remembering lots of reasons why God is worthy of praise!
Excerpt from script:
Reader 1 Everything in the heavens, shout, "Praise the Lord!"
Reader 2 (To heavenly group, hands in air, shouts) "Praise the Lord"
Reader 1 Angels and cherubim and seraphim, shout, "Praise the Lord!"
Reader 2 (flaps arms and shouts in deep voice) "Praise the Lord!"
Reader 1 Sun and moon and shiny stars shout, "Praise the Lord!"
Reader 2 (does twinkle fingers and shouts in very high pitched voice) "Twinkle. Twinkle. Praise the Lord!"
Reader 1 And everything else in outer space shout, "Praise the Lord!"
Reader 2 (puts hand over mouth and in Darth Vader voice shouts) "Luke, Praise the Lord!"
Reader 1 Praise the Lord, everything in the heavens, for He said the word and you came into being. You are His, forever, fixed in place at the Lord's command.
(Turn to earthly group) Now, then, everything on earth, it's your turn. Are you ready? Everything on earth shout, "Praise the Lord!"
Reader 2 (hands in air, shouts) "Praise the Lord"...
