Nicodemus - Interactive Version
This version of the conversation between Nicodemus and Jesus includes some simple actions that the congregation can join in with.
It comes from Bible Stories Through the Year - thanks to publishers Lion for allowing us to post this.
Extract from the script:
The story begin with a night visit (everyone go "SHHHH!").
A Pharisee called Nicodemus, who also belongs to the Jewish ruling council, comes in the night to meet with Jesus.
It continues with a compliment (turn to neighbour and say, "You're looking well!").
"Rabbi," says Nicodemus to Jesus. "We know you're a teacher sent by God because no one could do the miraculous signs you do unless God was with him."
And then there is a puzzle (everyone scratch head "Huh?").
Nicodemus seems impressed by the signs he has seen, so Jesus answers him by saying, "I'm telling you the truth - nobody sees the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
And Nicodemus seems completely confused.
"How can you be born when you're old?" he asks. "Can you crawl back into your mother's womb?"
So Jesus gives an explanation (everyone shout "Aha!").
"Nobody enters the kingdom of God unless he's born of water and the Spirit. Flesh comes from flesh, spirit from spirit. You seem surprised when I say that you must be born again. You shouldn't be."
"The wind blows here, the wind blows there, the wind blows wherever it wants. You hear it - but you can't tell where it came from or where it's going. And it's just the same with those who are born of the Spirit."...
